CCL WINS GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE NJPEC AWARDS
2003 – CCL Container, one of North America’s leading manufacturers of specialty aluminum packaging, was recently honored with three awards at the New Jersey Packaging Executives Club’s (NJPEC) annual awards event.
CCL received a Gold award in the household/industrial category for Reckitt Benckiser’s Airwick Click Spray, and a Bronze in the same category for the Honeywell Consumer Products Group’s Prestone Super Radiator Stop Leak. The company also won a Silver Award in the food and beverage category for Snapple Elements energy drink bottle. The awards were presented November 13 at the Hanover Marriott in East Hanover, NJ. Ed Martin, vice president of sales and marketing of CCL Container, along with Joe Iappelli, the company’s east coast sales manager, accepted the awards.
Martin commented, “We are grateful to be acknowledged by the NJPEC, particularly in the areas of household and food/beverage, because these categories represent market sectors of strategic focus for CCL. While our core business is in the personal products market, we’re continuously exploring new avenues to apply our aluminum packaging capabilities.”
The Airwick Click Spray package is a creative product that enables consumers to control the amount of room freshener that is released into a room. It consists of a CCL-designed aluminum container encased in a plastic shell that adheres to the wall. Gentle pressure on the plastic casing triggers the container inside to release a small quantity of fragrance.
The Prestone Super Radiator Stop Leak product is packaged in the world’s first 59 mm threaded-neck aluminum bottle. CCL developed the technology to produce threaded-neck aluminum bottles in the early 90s, and with the recent acquisition of new 59 mm tooling, developed this new aluminum bottle construction.
The Snapple Elements beverage container–the Silver award winner–makes a strong visual statement with its rugged grip rings and extreme graphics. In addition to its edgy appearance, the container’s advanced properties impressed the NJPEC judges. The lightweight aluminum container is rugged and easily portable, with an ergonomic shape, and re-sealable cap, appealing to the highly active youthful target consumer.
The NJPEC provides a forum for NJ-based packaging professionals to network and openly exchange industry-related concepts, news, issues and ideas in a relaxed and fun environment. Through a variety of programs, seasonal events and social gatherings, the club raises money for college-level students currently enrolled in a packaging-related education. The NJPEC consists of a diverse group of men and women in packaging professions representing a diverse range of market expertise.
